Lot of planning and research goes into getting that perfect look for every occasion.

We have put together a celebrity bride – style guide just for you, maybe you can borrow an idea or two from them.

While most celebrities have access to high-profile national and international fashion designers, many these days are also opting to buy stuff from regional vendors and getting it redone from their favorite designers to suit their style. The variety of lehengas, sarees and gowns that we get to see these days are simply breathtaking; kind of stuff every girl dreams of wearing is now available in the market. Now every girl can make her own style statement on her D-day.

The Royal Look

If you like to go for a traditional look, you can take some inspiration from the eternal beauty Aishwarya Rai or the Bollywood diva Shilpa Shetty. For her wedding Ash had worn a traditional golden-yellow Kanjeevaram sari. Designer Neeta Lulla reworked her sari using Swarovski crystals and pure gold threads. Ash braided her hair and decorated them with flowers and 22 karat gold jewelry, a very traditional look. And to add to it she also sported a 22K gold and emeralds armband. While at her mehndi, she wore a Neeta Lulla’s creation – a peach-coloured lehenga with full thread work.

Kareena also chose to get her wedding dress recreated by India’s one of the top fashion designer – Ritu Kumar. Her outfit was inspired by an heirloom costume. But later she changed into another traditional ensemble of maroon color (a very traditional color for Hindu weddings) created by her good friend and ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra.

Shilpa’s wedding ceremony was a mix of Punjabi and Bunt traditions. She was dressed as a traditional Manglorean bride, wearing a Tarun Tahiliani’s creation – a burgundy and red Bunt-style saree embellished with Swarovsky crystals. She also sported heavy gold and stone jewelry like Ash and braided her hair but in a typical Mangalorian style

The Elegant Look

Those you would like to look elegant, yet want to create an everlasting impression should check out the outfits Former Miss Universe Lara Dutta wore for her wedding ceremonies. She simply mesmerized the guests and fans with her elegant look. For her civil wedding ceremony Lara wore a beige color saree designed by Ritu Kumar. While for the catholic wedding, she decided to go for a simple and stunning Elie Saab Erato gown with a 10-meter train.

For a splendid look you can always go for a traditional outfit designed with a modern touch; something on the lines of Shilpa’s outfit at her wedding reception. Shilpa chose to wear a two piece Tarun Tahiliani’s creation – gold with Swarovski-encrusted bodysuit along with a satin sari-style gown, for her reception

The Vintage Look

To every girl her first fashion icon has always been her mother or elder sister or even her grandmother. Thus, they love to wear what their mother or sister wore on their special days. Wearing the wedding outfit of your mother at your wedding is not a new trend in Indian families – it has a sentimental value attached to it. And in the last few years, we have even seen many celebrities opting for this trend too, which has added a style statement to the emotional quotient. At her wedding, the tennis star Sania Mirza wore the same red saree that her mother worn 25-yrs ago at her own nikaah.

For one of the key functions, Kareena also wore the same outfit that her mother-in-law had worn at her wedding – a traditional wear heavily embroidered with gold zari.

Every bride is special and so should be her look – be it sangeet, mehndi, shaadi or reception – every eyes would be on her, discussing her dress, hair and makeup. Get yourself a unique style either by taking inspiration from our celebs or experimenting with your own. This is your day; you are the queen – treat yourself stylishly. All the best!
